Pros and cons of self-publishing
Did
you know that when you sign up with a publishing house (if you are
lucky enough to find a publishing house that is interested in your book),
you actually lose the rights to your own book? This means that they can
change the content and the cover as they please, and it also means that
if they don't make enough money to make it worthwhile for them to keep
printing the book, they don't have to. They can put the book out of print
after 2-3 years, and there is nothing you can do about it. They also don't
have to pay you hardly anything in commission - in many cases you'll end
up with less than a dollar pr book, and you may still have to do all the
book promotion, especially if you are not already a famous author.
So, why not self publish? You get to keep the rights to your book, you
get to make all the decisions, you decide how long to keep publishing
the book, and you get to keep up to 80% of the profits! So,
who needs the big publishing houses any more? The self-publishing
industry is getting more and more user-friendly and hassle free, and we

Formatting
We'll take your finished manuscript
and put it into proper book format in the size that you require. We'll
create a title page, a copy right page, a table of contents with page
numbers, make a space for acknowledgements or foreword, if you wish,
and so on. The price for formatting is $1.50 pr formatted page. (This
is usually slightly different than the amount of pages in the original
document, since the page size changes in the formatting process). Minimum
price $100.00, which has to be paid up front. The rest is charged to
the same creditcard after the the formatting has been completed. A copy
of the formatted book on a CD is included in the price. (Manuscript
has to be in microsoft word format).
Ask for
a no-obligation sample before paying - send the title and one
chapter of your book to biggervisionbooks@hotmail.com
and receive sample formatting which shows the title and copyright page,
list of contents and the first chapter of your book with page numbers.
If you are happy with the sample, you pay the initial fee and send the
rest of the chapters, including foreword and acknowledgements, if you
wish. - The rest of the money is charged after the formatting is complete.

Indexing
After the formatting is finished, the index work
can begin. The index work is a lot more time consuming than the formatting
itself. This is where we have to go through the whole text and mark
every word that should be in the index, so this should only be done
after the book has been completed and formatted. If we should come across
any spelling mistakes while we are doing the index work, we will correct
these for free, as a curtesy to our customers. Once every word is marked
in the text, the index can be created at the end of your document. The
charge for the indexing is $3.25 pr indexable page, and if you need
the work rushed because you are trying to reach a deadline, the price
is $4.00 pr indexable page. A copy of the indexed book on a CD is included
in the price. (Before indexing is possible, the manuscript must already
be formatted and submitted in microsoft word format).

Conversion
Once
your document has been formatted and indexed, it is time to put it into
a pdf form. Good
quality pdf's can be extremely tricky to make because so many things can
go wrong with them, so this is definitely not something that can easily
be made at home, even if you have a quality pdf software on your computer.
Setting all the different parameters correctly can be a daunting task
unless you know exactly how to do it, so you are better off letting us
do the pdf for you.
Although some printers allow you to upload a document in word format,
we still recommend putting it into pdf first, for two reasons: First,
because if you make your own pdf, you aren't limited to using only the
fonts that the printer has available - you can use any font you want.
And second, you get to see exactly what the finished book is going to
look like before sending it to the printer. The price for this service
is $150.00 flat fee, and one correction is included in the price.
So,
if you discover any mistakes after seeing your first pdf, you can correct
all the mistakes and we'll make the pdf for you again, once more, at no
extra charge. If there are any more corrections after that, there will
be an extra $50.00 charge for each new pdf that has to be made. A copy
of the finished pdf on a CD is included in the price.

Cover
Do
you have your own cover art? Or, do you need a little help? Please
tell us what you have in mind, and we'll give you a choice between 3
different covers. (You only have to pay if you like one of the covers,
so this is a no-risk offer). The price for the cover design is $300.00,
which also includes one correction or change to the cover. There will
be an extra $50.00 charge for each correction after that. (If you want
to use your own coverart, it has to be submitted in jpg format).

Uploading to the Printer
The most overwhelming
part of the publishing process is how to upload your finished cover and
pdf to a print-on-demand printer so you can order your first proof copy.
We know the upload process so well that we are willing to upload everything
for you to our super reliable print-on-demand printer, if you simply don't
want to deal with that part of the process.
The book has to be uploaded twice before you can approve the finished
book. First, you upload and then order a proof copy (at additional charge).
Now, you are a published author and can order an ISBN number and a distribution
service for your book. Then, you look through the proof copy and correct
any mistakes that you find. You add the ISBN number to the inside of
the book, then another pdf is made (included in the price) and everything
is uploaded again. You buy another proof copy (at additional
charge), and after approving your final copy, the book is ready to be
sold to the public. The price for this upload service is $300.00,
which includes 2 uploads and the creation of a final pdf with the ISBN
number included. If any part of the book or the cover needs to be uploaded
more than twice, there will be another $75.00 charge for each additional
upload, as well as an additional $50.00 charge for each new pdf that
has to be created. (The book has to be submitted in microsoft word format).
